Focus Financial Partners (“Focus”) and Nevis today announced a strategic partnership under which Nevis will serve as the enterprise AI platform for Focus Partners Wealth and Focus’ other business units, helping reduce administrative burdens, expand advisor capacity and enhance the experience for clients and advisors. The deployment will support Focus’ team members, reinforcing its commitment to pairing cutting-edge technology with highly personalized advice.
This announcement follows Focus’ multi-year transformation. While continuing to invest heavily in its brand, infrastructure and operating model, the company is now deploying AI at scale as part of its growth strategy, making this significant investment in Nevis’ wealth management technology.
“Our partnership with Nevis is about more than adopting a new tool. It’s a fundamental step in building the technology foundation we need for the AI era, and it required a level of capability, security and strategic alignment that few providers could help us build,” said Adam Birenbaum, CEO of Focus Financial Partners. “What ultimately led us to partner with Nevis was their collaborative approach, and the speed at which they could bring value to our organization. Their technology is purpose-built for the wealth management industry and flexible enough to support the diversity of our advisor network.”
“Every wealth management firm wants to get into AI right now — the question is how. Nevis is the infrastructure that makes it possible: automating thousands of hours of operational work so advisors can spend that time on what matters,” said Mark Swan, CEO and Co-Founder of Nevis. “No two firms using Nevis look the same. We build infrastructure that accentuates what makes a firm special, not one that standardizes it away. Working alongside Focus, at their scale and complexity, is helping us define what that infrastructure needs to be for the largest, most sophisticated firms in the industry. That’s the standard we’re building toward, and we’re just getting started.”
Scale, Without Losing the Personal Touch
Focus enters this partnership as a leader in the wealth management, asset management, and business management industries, with more than $500 billion in collective client assets, more than 300 completed M&A transactions, and more than 6,300 team members. That scale gives Focus a distinct opportunity to shape how artificial intelligence is applied across wealth management, combining enterprise-level resources with the personalized guidance clients expect from their advisors. Nevis has established itself as the AI platform of choice for enterprise RIAs, growing the assets under management on its platform from $50 billion to $700 billion this year — establishing itself as the fastest-growing platform in its category. The company is backed by $40 million from Sequoia Capital, ICONIQ, and Ribbit Capital, and its customer base includes some of the largest and fastest-growing wealth management firms in the country, among them IEQ Capital, United Capital, and AlTi Global.
Focus and Nevis share a point of view that has shaped the design of their strategic partnership: clients increasingly want the resources and capabilities of a large institution, delivered with the responsiveness and trust of a local advisor. Focus’ business model has long been built around delivering both scale and personalization. The Nevis platform helps extend that model by automating operational work, freeing advisors to spend more time focused on planning, relationships and client outcomes.
“At Focus, we have spent years building a national platform with the scale, talent and infrastructure needed to lead through the next era of wealth management,” said Justin Ferri, Chief Operating Officer at Focus. “This partnership allows us to build on that foundation and bring the benefits of AI to advisors and clients more quickly and more broadly than would otherwise be possible.”
Why Nevis
Focus assessed numerous options in the market and concluded Nevis would deliver value faster and with higher quality than alternatives. Beyond providing the flexibility needed for Focus to make the platform its own, Nevis backs that technology with dedicated deployment teams who work hands-on with Focus’ internal technologists, team members, and advisors to drive the behavior change that this technology shift requires. More than the technology, Focus is betting on the team behind it: experienced operators that are singularly focused on wealth management and who have the relationships that come only from building a platform purpose-built for this industry rather than adapting a generic one to fit it.
“Our partnership with Nevis reflects where Focus is headed as a firm. We’ve spent decades building one of the industry’s largest and most comprehensive wealth management platforms. Now we’re investing in the technologies that will help our advisors serve clients more effectively, operate more efficiently and continue growing for years to come. We believe the future belongs to firms that can combine scale, expertise and technology, and this partnership is an important step in that journey,” said Birenbaum.
