Program provides 35% savings on applied solar credits for JCP&L customers, with no rooftop installation required.

RARITAN, NJ, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Township of Raritan announced a Community Solar program available to residents who are Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) customers. The program is regulated by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU), and participation is voluntary.

Community Solar allows residents to subscribe to a share of a local solar project without installing anything at their home. As the project produces energy, it generates credits that are applied directly to the subscriber’s JCP&L bill. Subscribers continue to receive electric service from JCP&L as they do today.

Residents who enroll receive 35 percent savings on all applied solar credits. The credits and savings appear directly on the monthly JCP&L bill. Residents continue to receive and pay a single bill from JCP&L, with no separate solar bill and no additional payment to set up. There are no enrollment fees, no credit checks, and no long-term commitments. The program is open to both renters and homeowners.

Because no rooftop installation is involved, the program is available to households that cannot install solar of their own, including renters, residents of multi-family buildings, and homeowners whose roofs are shaded, aging, or otherwise unsuitable.

Advancing Energy Equity in New Jersey: As a registered subscriber organization with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, Solar Simplified is committed to promoting equitable access to clean energy across the state. At least 51 percent of all available Community Solar capacity will be reserved for low- and moderate-income households, ensuring that families who need savings the most get access. Solar Simplified confirms eligibility as part of enrollment.

“The Township Committee is always focused on finding tangible ways to respect our residents’ hard-earned dollars and bring real savings to Raritan Township families,” said Mayor Brad Perry. “Through this State-regulated program, we are providing our community with a secure, trusted way to save as much as 35 percent on their monthly electric bills without any upfront fees, long-term contracts, or rooftop installations. It is a practical, dollars-and-cents win for our homeowners and renters alike.”

The Township selected Solar Simplified to administer the program. Solar Simplified handles all enrollment, customer support, and billing questions. Raritan Township joins more than 100 municipalities and community organizations nationwide that partner with Solar Simplified, including senior centers, housing authorities, weatherization nonprofits, and other local groups working to expand access to affordable clean energy and household savings.
