Beth’s journey in early childhood education began as a teacher, a role she held for much of her career while also raising her five children. Today, Beth serves as Director of Micah Children’s Academy, LLC in Brentwood, Tennessee, where she is in her sixth year in administration and her third year as director. Often wearing multiple hats throughout the day, Beth ensures the school operates efficiently, maintains high standards of care, and remains compliant with DHS licensing requirements and all applicable regulations.

As director, Beth manages a team of 21 staff members and oversees daily schedules for a school operating 10 hours a day. She carefully coordinates staffing needs, supports educator well-being, and works to ensure classrooms are properly covered while preventing burnout among her team. A significant portion of her responsibilities involves compliance management, reviewing lesson plans, and ensuring that the school’s educational philosophy and mission are reflected consistently throughout the learning environment.

Beth considers the safety, security, and overall well-being of children and educators to be her greatest responsibilities. She is passionate about creating an environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Beyond classroom operations, she places a strong emphasis on family engagement and communication, recognizing that early childhood programs serve as an extension of the home.

Her goal is to make Micah Children’s Academy feel like a “home away from home,” where families feel welcomed, respected, heard, and supported. Throughout her leadership journey, Beth has embraced many roles, including mediator, mentor, strategic thought partner, and business administrator. Although she did not come from an accounting background, Beth has approached each challenge with determination, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Despite this importance, she notes that early childhood educators often receive some of the lowest levels of support in areas such as professional training, resources, and compensation. She advocates for increased investment in preparing educators, so they have the knowledge and tools necessary to provide meaningful learning experiences for children.

In both her professional and personal life, Beth is guided by values of love, respect, devotion, and genuine care for others. She considers one of her greatest accomplishments to be the family she has built. Coming from a background where divorce and difficult parenting experiences were present, Beth takes great pride in creating a strong, supportive family environment. She and her husband will celebrate 30 years of marriage, and she views the success and happiness of their children as one of her greatest achievements.
