Florida Karate Academy Wins 34 Medals at 2026 AAU-USA National Championships

VERO BEACH, FL, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Florida Karate Academy was represented by 15 athletes at the AAU-USA National Karate Championships, held July 1–4, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale. Thirty-four medals were earned, and a 13th-place finish in the overall medal count was secured among more than 100 teams from across the United States.

Several multi-event performances were recorded during the championship. Nahlia Hebig was awarded gold medals in Long Kobudo, Kata, Sanbon Kumite, and Team Kumite, along with silver in WKF Kumite and bronze in Ippon Kumite. Dave Roth received gold in Long Kobudo, silver in Short Kobudo, and bronze in Kata. Gold medals were also earned by Paul Hebig, Nathan Ministre, John Paul Ministre, Donald Martin, Roman Borengasser, and Liam Herman.

Additional medals were secured by Danny Reynolds, Jaiya Hebig, Norma Krajack, Gage Kepley, Lucas Rodriguez, Eli Marcelin, and David Ministre. Placements were achieved across Kobudo, Kata, Sanbon Kumite, Ippon Kumite, WKF Kumite, and Team Kumite divisions. Preparation across forms, weapons, and sparring was reflected in the results, while valuable national competition experience was gained by the full team.

The athletes were coached by FKA instructors David Roth, Paul Hebig, and Nalini Singh-Hebig. The same attention to discipline, technique, confidence, focus, and respect is built into the academy’s beginner-friendly programs, including Pre-K, youth, and family karate classes for all experience levels in Vero Beach.

A strong competitive tradition has been maintained by the academy for more than two decades, with national and international participation being supported through its AAU Karate Team. Student achievements are also recognized through the academy’s FKA Champions program, where international tournament accomplishments in kata, kumite, weapons, and team divisions are featured.

Following the Fort Lauderdale championship, Paul Hebig, Nahlia Hebig, Jaiya Hebig, Nathan Ministre, and John Paul Ministre were selected to attend the WUKF World Karate Championships in Romania as members of the AAU-USA Karate Team. The event was held July 22–26, 2026, and its results are expected to be covered in a separate press release.

Through structured instruction and a supportive environment, a path is provided for beginners, families, and competitive athletes.
