Collaboration will integrate ecobee smart thermostats with WeaveGrid’s DISCO platform, expanding the range of connected devices utilities can bring into grid orchestration programs

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — WeaveGrid, a grid-edge orchestration software provider for electric utilities, and ecobee, a leading smart thermostat manufacturer, are working together to bring ecobee’s smart thermostats onto WeaveGrid’s Distribution-Integrated System Capacity Orchestration (DISCO) platform, supporting grid reliability and effortless savings opportunities for customers.

Smart thermostats are among the largest categories of connected, dispatchable load already installed in homes across North America. Bringing ecobee’s thermostat fleet into DISCO expands the range of EVs, batteries, smart thermostats, and other flexible loads that utilities can manage through a single platform. It also gives utilities working with WeaveGrid a pathway to bring ecobee devices into load management and grid orchestration programs alongside the EVs, batteries, and other DERs DISCO already supports. For ecobee customers, it creates a new opportunity to put a device they already own to work in utility programs that reward them for supporting the grid.

“As utilities face rising demand from electrification and data center growth, they need every category of flexible load working together,” said Apoorv Bhargava, CEO and cofounder of WeaveGrid. “ecobee has built one of the most widely adopted smart thermostat platforms in North America. Bringing that fleet into DISCO gives utilities another major source of dispatchable load to call on, right alongside the EVs and batteries we already orchestrate.”

“By expanding our ecosystem of industry partnerships with companies like WeaveGrid, we’re creating new opportunities for customers to support a more reliable, affordable, and resilient grid while continuing to benefit from the comfort and convenience of their smart home technology,” said Tamara Dzubay, Senior Director, Energy at ecobee.

The collaboration builds on WeaveGrid’s growing ecosystem of device manufacturer relationships, which now spans EVs, residential batteries, smart thermostats, and commercial loads. Recent additions to WeaveGrid’s device partner ecosystem include SolarEdge and FranklinWH, extending DISCO’s coverage into home energy systems.

As electrification and load growth continue to strain the grid, WeaveGrid and ecobee are aligned in helping utilities bring smart thermostats into grid operations in a way that protects reliability and gives customers more ways to participate and save.
