Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD), a time-tested provider of mission-critical maritime defense solutions, today announced the launch of a company-wide community service initiative centered on supporting Habitat for Humanity. This initiative brings FMD’s longstanding commitment to those who have served directly into the communities veterans and military families call home, while honoring and supporting those in need.

The initiative will begin through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Waukesha-Jefferson-Rock, which will serve as the foundation for a broader company-wide effort encouraging employees across FMD’s global locations to support Habitat for Humanity affiliates in the communities where they live and work.

Approximately 17 million veterans live across the United States, and many face housing insecurity or significant housing cost burdens. To help address this need, the campaign will begin with FMD’s sponsorship of Habitat for Humanity Waukesha-Jefferson-Rock’s inaugural Acts of Courage build, a volunteer initiative that brings together veterans, active-duty service members and community volunteers to construct safe, affordable housing for local families.

The inaugural Acts of Courage build will take place September 8–19 in Janesville, Wisconsin, as part of FMD’s broader volunteer campaign running through Veterans Day on November 11, 2026. Throughout the campaign, FMD will encourage employees around the world to support Habitat for Humanity in their local communities by volunteering on home construction and repair projects, making donations, and contributing in other meaningful ways.

Through these collective efforts, FMD aims to make a lasting difference for veterans, military families and the communities its employees call home.
